Cooper Family Homes - Philmay Terrace

Cooper Family Homes - Jeff Ave.

Welcome to our 3 bedroom, 2 1/2 bath, cozy stone cottage in Mt Penn, Pennsylvania! The Cooper Cottage is a flash from the past. Our newly furnished, single family home is located on a quaint, quiet street lined with beautiful trees and foliage. As we have grown as a family, now with multiple children and pets, we have come to find that we love to stay in homes designed with families in mind. We hope our home will be comfortable for both you, your kids, and your dog on your upcoming visit.

After you park your car on our sunny, tree lined street, you’ll walk down the stone walkway and enter via our keypad accessible door on the front porch. As you enter the first floor, you’ll see the living room to the left. Complete with a large plush sectional and comfy dog beds, our living room features book shelves complete with games and puzzles, and a smart tv over the fireplace, with Netflix, Hulu, Disney+, and ESPN+ already signed in and ready for you to use.

Up the stairs on our second floor, you’ll find a hallway with a full bathroom, a bedroom to the left and a bedroom to the right. The upstairs bedrooms feature colorful, tasteful decor, fitting with the cheery theme of our cottage. All three bedrooms are outfitted with gorgeous queen size beds, two with luxury plush mattresses and one with a firm, to offer you a choice. All three rooms feature beautiful, locally crafted furniture.

Inside our cottage front door to the right, you’ll see our kitchen and dining room complete with complimentary coffee and tea bar. Our cellarette, or cocktail cabinet, features a collection of colorful china to view, as well as a selection of different beverages for you to choose from. You’ll find a fully outfitted kitchen with everything you need to prepare a family meal, should you choose not to dine out!

After walking through the kitchen, our first floor bedroom will be to your right, complete with easily accessible GE front loading washer and dryer. We are pleased to be able to offer full first floor living from this ground floor bedroom with easy access to the kitchen, living room, bathroom and laundry

To the left, through the kitchen door you will find the first floor full bath, with easily accessible, walk in shower with comfort seat and a handheld shower head.

Walk past the first floor bath and you’ll enter our spacious sun room, with additional dining and seating areas. This beautiful windowed area has a cozy reading nook/window seat, second tv, and views of our outdoor stone fireplace and rose garden.

Next to the booth style seating in the sun filled back room, you’ll find the stairs down to our doggy lounge area. The dog relaxation room comes complete with couches, crates of all sizes, dog beds, a half bath, and a second GE front loading washer and dryer set available for use.

The backyard area is perfect for grilling, relaxing, and roasting marshmallows over the stone fireplace making it a perfect go-to spot in both summer and winter. The front porch is similarly cheery, with a table and chairs and the sound of birds chirping happily in the trees.

Outfitted and furnished for the ultimate comfort of you, your family and your pup. Complete with multiple sleeping options, a dog recreational area, and an ADA friendly first floor, our home is dog and family friendly. We are happy to accommodate your specific requests!

Located within a few hours of New York City, Philadelphia, Washington DC, and Baltimore, our quaint little neighborhood of Mt. Penn sits outside of the City of Reading, in Berks County, Pennsylvania.

Close to downtown Reading’s shops, museums, arboretums, and eateries, and similarly adjacent to Penn mountain, with its beautiful hiking and scenery, our little cottage in Mt. Penn truly has the best of both worlds!

One of many, the Schuykill River Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization that is working to create a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and

connecting corridors. Previously an unused railroad corridor, this "rail-trail" is now a great place to walk your pup or get the stroller out. Other hiking options include Seven Step Dam, part of Antietam Lake Park- an amazing location to check out a piece of history, and Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site, a pet-friendly destination showcasing early American industry.

Stokesay Castle & The Knight's Pub is a must see 13th century inspired English Castle.

The Knight's Pub boasts beautiful views, delicious food and refreshing cocktails, The Pub is an atmosphere like no other.

Another spot to check out- The Reading Pagoda. The Pagoda is a gorgeous, historic structure, featuring iconic Japanese architecture that was built in 1908 with a famously panoramic view.

Approximately 10 minutes away at the Danielle Ruiz-Murphy Center for Animal Welfare, it’s just a short drive from the Cooper Cottage to a local dog park. The center is a multi-acre equine rescue facility that offers a trail near the horse pastures for your furry friend to explore on leash and also offers the gated dog park complete with two different sections, depending on your dog’s needs.

Within easy walking distance, a street away, you have Antietam Fields, complete with wide grassy spaces and a walking track around the park.

Also within walking distance, you have the Antietam pool and Crystal Lake, located in Carsonia Park featuring trails around the lake, picnic tables, playgrounds, basketball courts and ball fields. On certain days at Carsonia Park you can join the locals for a day at the Antietam market- spend an evening shopping, supporting our young entrepreneurs, sampling, enjoying dinner and dessert, mingling with fellow members of the community, and listening to music!

Across the street from Carsonia Park you have Anthony's Trattoria- one of many delicious food stops you will have to make!

We also highly recommend Frank and Diannah’s Arbor Inn for fine dining, Liberty Tap Room for its extensive selection of craft beers, and Trooper Thorn's Irish Beef House, a casual Irish pub experience.
